Just 128 Alex fans braved the trip to Hartlepool today to see the Alex get their first 3 points on the road this season with a fantastic 4-1 win.

It was John Brayford who got things under way on the stroke of half time after getting on the end of Clayton Donaldson’s ball.

At the other end of half time however things went a bit flat after a 48th minute goal from Joel Porter drew the reds level.

The Alex may well and gone on to implode, as usual when conceding, if it hadn’t been for a disastrous own goal from Hartlepool’s Michael Nelseon less than 10 minutes later.

Being 1-2 up and Hartlepool far from impressing Crewe went on to secure all three points in style. Youngster Luke Murphy’s first goal for the club coming from an impressive long range shot 70 minutes in was topped off by top scorer Shaun Miller in the final 10 minutes.

Gudjon Thordarson will now take the management reigns on Tuesday and today’s result will be more than encouranging for the Icelandic.

Still 7 points from safety, you almost wish next week’s FA Cup game at Millwall was a league game.
