Finney At The Double As Alex Win At Leeds

|

A first-half brace from Ollie Finney was enough for Crewe Alexandra to beat Leeds United away from home in the Under-23 Professional Development League, despite a second-half goal from Robbie Gotts.

Manager Alex Morris named Dave Richards in goal with a back 4 of Abdul Djalo, Travis Johnson, Luke Offord and Rio Adebisi. In front of them were midfielders Regan Griffiths, Josh Lundstram, Paul Green and Callum Ainley while Finney played in behind Connor Heath. The substitutes were goalkeeper Sam Booth, Aaron Lomas, Joe Robbins and Tyreece Onyeka.

The opening goal came in the opening minute for the visitors in the 22nd minute with Finney firing home with the second arriving 14 minutes from the penalty spot, Finney fouled before sending goalkeeper Meslier the wrong way with the penalty. Leeds would get their goal 19 minutes from time as a move from half-time substitute Kun Temenuzhkov and Edmondson saw Gotts get on the scoresheet.

The next couple of games sees us hosting Watford a week on Wednesday (8th October) at the Alexandra Stadium before an away game at Bolton Wanderers the following Monday.
