There was to be bank-holiday disappointment in the end for Crewe Alexandra as Tranmere Rovers came from behind to win 2-1 at Prenton Park.

On loan Brad Inman struck for the third successive game to give the visitors the lead on twelve minutes

But Adam McGurk and Max Power both replied either side of the hour-mark to keep the home side second in the table and end Crewe’s recent three-match winning run.

The Alex had the perfect start with Inman reacting first to give them an early lead and he soon had the ball in the net again – only for fellow loanee Lauri Dalla Valle to be penalised during the build-up.

However, the contest was back in the balance as McGurk headed his third goal of the season from Andy Robinson’s cross thirteen minutes into the second-half.

That was nearly added to when teenager Liam Palmer struck against an upright before Power curled into the top corner from the edge of the area to eventually separate the two sides.
