Every Player Has His Price

Championship clubs may be interested in player of the season John Brayford but they won’t be going away with a bargain.

Gudjon confirmed yesterday that three Championship clubs had shown an interest in Brayford, with one putting in a firm offer for the right back.

Rumoured that a £200,000 bid from Derby has been laughed off by Gudjon, we could see the Iceman hold out for as much as £700,000 for a player Steve Holland paid out £130,000 for just nine months ago.

For now though it looks like Gudjon is willing to play the waiting game in order to tempt a few more pounds out of the pockets of the Championship, and his interviews on the official website may be better suited to EBay.

‘Derby are interested but they are not the only ones. There are other Championship clubs interested and I’m sure he will be able to make the step up if it came to it.

‘The market is tricky. I have looked at what other good young players have been going for, so I have a valuation in mind. He won’t be sold on the cheap that’s for sure. He is someone we rate and obviously other mangers do too. We’ll have to see what happens.

‘I would like to hold on to him and see him progress with us, but every player has his price.’
