Anthony Elding scored within five minutes of his Kettering debut last night but the Poppies still only managed a 2-2 draw at home to Wrexham.

Elding departed Gresty Road yesterday afternoon for a two month loan spell at his former club Kettering. Despite the move being completed late on he was still thrown straight into action against Wrexham.

Starting up front Elding made the perfect start, heading the Poppies in front after just four minutes of the game gone. Unfortunately it was about as good as it got for his new team with an own goal from Kettering keeper giving Wrexham an equaliser just 10 minutes later.

Former Alex defender Ashley Westwood (not to be confused with current Alex defender Ashley Westwood) then put Wrexham in the lead in the 22nd minute.

However, late drama sealed a point for Kettering. A penalty in the 5th minute of injury time gave the Poppies an unlikely point with Jean-Paul Marna tucking it away.

Crewe are far better than this and must string of good wins together, taking Cheltenham to the cleaners was a start, but it has to continue, will it kick start the season, I hope so.
