Elding Deal In Major Doubt

Anthony Elding says his talks with Crewe ‘didn’t really go that well’.

The striker spoke to the club after the Alex had a bid accepted for the Leeds United striker last week but it looks like the deal could now be called off after Elding was left less than impressed.

Elding told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he won’t be rushed into a decision on his future:

‘I went for talks at Crewe which didn’t really go that well…

‘If I am going to leave, I’ve got to get it right for me.

‘I’m 26 and If I go somewhere where I might not play and it’s not right, it’s going to be a bad move.

‘I need to do it so it’s right for me and my family, so that I’m playing football every week and enjoying it and there’s also the financial side.’

Elding has also been linked with Leyton Orient, Millwall, Hartlepool and Darlington in recent weeks but as yet Crewe are the only club to have made a firm offer.

So, is it a surprise that yet another signing seems to have slipped our grasp? Time and time again deals are falling at the “talking point”.

Is he saying we didn’t even offer him guaranteed first team football?

He said at Christmas before he joined Leeds he didn’t want to join Crewe. I think he’s just using it as an excuse to not join you.
