Crewe Alexandra are expecting both Matt Tootle and Harry Davis to sign new two-and a-half-year deals at Gresty Road.

“The players are happy to sign them because of what we’ve offered them” – Steve Davis

Tootle, 22, has already completed more than a century of senior games for the Alex since progressing through their youth system, while Davis, 21, has played 35 times this season after 47 appearances last term.

Both were members of the side which famously defeated Cheltenham Town in the play-off final at Wembley back in May.

“Financially they were miles behind everyone else – to enable us to bring them closer, we’ve put the extra year on,” manager Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke. “It’s great for both parties – the players are happy to sign them because of what we’ve offered them and we’re happy to keep them longer.”
