There weren’t many positives for Crewe Alexandra against Oldham Athletic last night but manager Steve Davis at least found some satisfaction in the performances of goalkeeper Alan Martin and captain Luke Murphy.

“Alan was one who could be proud of his performance and Murph deserved his man-of-the-match award” – Steve Davis

The Scottish keeper made a number of decent stops during the first-half in particular despite the visitors eventually claiming a 2-0 victory at Gresty Road.

Davis was also pleased with the efforts of skipper Luke Murphy, who struck the crossbar from a late free-kick.

“Alan was one who could be proud of his performance, and Murph deserved his man-of-the-match award for his endeavour and drive to try and get us going,” he told Alex’s official website. “He showed some character and we needed more of it from others.”
