Former Crewe Alexandra midfielder James Bailey has emerged as a summer target for the Railwaymen.
The 25-year-old already made 55 appearances for the club until joining Derby County in a combined £1m-plus deal with defender John Brayford four years ago.
However, Bailey has since been released by the Rams following just two appearances last term. He previously had a loan stint with Coventry City.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Liam McAlinden is also believed to be coming under the radar of Alex boss Steve Davis.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international recently signed a two-year extension at Molineux but could be available on loan.
