Don’t Panic Yet Says Dario

Despite a 1-0 defeat to Hereford United on the opening day of the season yesterday, Dario says that he will not panic as he felt his side could have got something from the game.

The Bulls won the game through a Kovacs goal from a corner moments after Clayton Donaldson has missed a glorious chance to put the Railwaymen into the lead.

Poor finish was order of the day from the Laex and despite arguable being the better side, it was Crewe who ended up going away without any points whilst Hereford got their campaign off to the perfect start.

Post match, Dario told the club’s official website, crewealex.net, that it’s just a matter of finding the goals from the front men:

‘We played okay. We started well and they did as well. They really put pressure on us in the opening 15 minutes, but gradually as the first half went on we began to get on top. I thought we looked the more likely side to score.

‘I thought we were the more likely side to score again, but we ran out of ideas, so we changed to a different pattern by bringing Joel on.

‘I haven’t seen their goal again but I think it should have been Artell marking him. He was there or thereabouts and it would be nice if we could score goals like that and maybe we will.

‘We prepared how we were going to play through the pre-season and I am not going to panic over the first game. We are not suddenly going to have a 25-goal man but hopefully they will get enough.’

Dario now faces the task of preparing the team for the Carling Cup visit of Derby County on Tuesday evening. Derby will be bringing a host of familiar faces back to Gresty Road with the likes of Robbie Savage, Rob Hulse and of course John Brayford and James Bailey.

I’m not sure how many fans are desperate to progress in the Carling Cup but a win really wouldn’t go amiss. Yesterday’s result and performance was slightly disappointing after the pre season build up but there really is a long way to go (cliche alert) and we should probably hold fire with any rash decisions/opinions for another 8 or 9 league games.
