Rumoured Alex target Clayton Donaldson has denied he’s on his way to Gresty Road. The Hibernian striker has been linked with the Alex ever since Steve Holland provided a cryptic clue on one of his loan targets – a English striker who has played in the SPL.

The move, however, was a doubt from day one considering that loan moves between English and Scottish clubs can no longer happen. Whilst a more realistic view of Donaldson signing in the summer has been quashed by the Bradford born striker.

Donaldson said: ‘I don’t know anything about Crewe, I’m a Hibs player until anyone tells me otherwise. I ‘m focused on getting back in the team and doing a job for Hibs.’

The 24 year old made his name at York City in the non-league, scoring over 40 goals in 86 appearances. Donaldson, who started his career at Hull City, signed for Hibs in the summer of 2007 but has struggled to break into the first team, making just 15 appearances so far this term.
