Clayton Donaldson is joint leader of the League Two scoring charts heading into the final game of the season.

With eight goals in his last six games the former Hibs man has now netted 28 times this season, 27 in the league. He’s joined at the top of the scoring charts by former Alex and current Bury striker Ryan Lowe.

With their nearest competition, Gillingham’s Cody McDonald, on 24 for the season it has become a blow for blow fight in the final games of the season next weekend.

Whilst ClayDo and the Alex face a trip to Bradford, already promoted Bury will be hoping to steal the League Two crown from under the noses of Chesterfield with a tough game at Stevenage.

Whilst Ryan Lowe has received all the plaudits, picking up the league’s Player of the Season as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Season, Donaldson has gone about his business relatively quietly. His 27 goal tally is the most league goals scored by a player in Dario’s 28 years at the club.

It remains about the only thing left for Alex fans to cheer this season and with Donaldson almost certainly playing his final game in red next Saturday, no fan or player will begrudge him of a goal or three.
