U23: Dominant First Half Helps Swans Defeat Alex

|

Goals from Joe Robbins and Connor Salisbury were not enough for Crewe Alexandra to get a result against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in the Under-23 Professional Development League this afternoon.

With the first team playing at home to Morecambe tomorrow night, manager Alex Morris named a Sam Booth in goal behind a back 5 of Travis Johnson, Connor O’Riordan, Billy Sass-Davies, Zac Williams and Sean Lawton. New signing Madger Gomes, captain Regan Griffiths and Robbins were in midfield while Salisbury partnered Max Woodcock up front. On the bench were Charlie Finney, Tyreece Onyeka, Owen Lunt, Ty Webster and goalkeeper Tom Booth.

The Alex would take the lead in the 2nd minute with Robbins scoring before it was pegged back almost immediately as Dylan Morgan equalised. Joel Cotterill gave the hosts a 20th-minute lead before that was extended 2 minutes later as Terelle Whittaker doubled the advantage. Salisbury got one back for the Alex in the 62nd-minute with Lincoln McFayden completing the scoring in stoppage-time.
