‘Nothing and no-one is more important than the spirit of the team’ is the message from Steve Holland after Gary Roberts was dropped for disciplinary reasons on Saturday.

It was a surprise exclusion that wasn’t explained till post match, and even then Holland was still sketchy on why Roberts was left out.

All rumours, though, point to in-fighting between Roberts and a team mate followed by a few choice words from the midfielder.

After being disciplined by Steve Holland earlier this year, there is huge doubt surrounding Roberts’ future at the club – although Holland insists that he is under consideration for tomorrow’s derby game.

Holland told Radio Stoke that the action to discipline was necessary: ‘I don’t think any coach goes looking for problems but when they arise you have to deal with them. We are fighting desperately hard to stay in this league and we need everyone pulling in the right direction.’

With Roberts’ clear disruptiveness at the Alex at the moment, Vital Crewe are asking if you think he should pull on a Crewe shirt again?
