Derby County boss Nigel Clough says they are preparing a new offer for Crewe right back John Brayford.

Derby have already had a bid for the 21 year old rejected this summer and whilst they’re taking their time it looks almost certain they’ll return with an improve offer.

Also eyeing up Blackpool’s Shaun Barker, Nigel Clough told thisisderbyshire.co.uk that they are just ‘drawing up a new offer’.

‘We have made offers for both players, which have been rejected, so we are in the process of drawing up fresh offers which will go in as soon as we can.’

Clough has been in pursuit of Brayford since his arrival at Pride Park earlier in the year. Having coached him through to the Burton Albion first team, Clough sold Brayford to the Alex at a bargain price of £60,000 in August last year.

In his first 12 months at Gresty Road Brayford has already established himself as one of the club’s best players, making a clean sweep at the Player of the Season awards.

His departure however isn’t as straight forward as it might look. Gudjon is reported to be seeking at least £500,000 for Brayford, and whilst he’s had an impressive year it could well be that Gudjon is pushing his luck with that valuation.
