Experienced Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Steve Phillips’ scheduled operation has been delayed until later this week.

The 34-year-old was due to have surgery today but will now have the problematic lump on his knee removed on Thursday.

The two consultants involved in the treatment are set to meet on Wednesday to fully discuss the process.

While the delay is only routine and the operation described as minor, Phillips is expected to be sidelined for around a month once it is finally completed.
