Defenders Make International Appearances

|

Two Crewe Alexandra defenders have made appearances for their country over the last week, including a full international debut.

Donervon Daniels made his debut for Montserrat last Wednesday in their 4-0 home win against the US Virgin Islands (the goals were scored by Nathan Pond, Rohan Ince and two from Adrian Clifton) but was not involved in their 2-1 win in Grenada in the early hours of this morning (both goals scored by Nottingham Forest’s Lyle Taylor in the final 6 minutes). Unfortunately for the Emerald Boys, there was a winner in the game between El Salvador and Antigua & Barbuda so they are out of the FIFA World Cup qualifying in the CONCACAF region at the first round stage.

Billy Sass-Davies would make his second appearance for Wales’ Under-21s in their 0-0 home draw against Moldova last Friday in their opening game of the qualifying for the 2023 UEFA Euro Under-21 Championships.

What are next games for these teams?

The next games for Montserrat take place at the start of July as they look to qualify for this summer’s Gold Cup, they face Trinidad & Tobago in the first round and would need to beat either Cuba or French Guiana in the following round to make the tournament.

The next game for Wales’ Under-21s is a trip to Bulgaria in September.
