Defender’s First Senior Goal Not Enough To Get Victory

|

Jamie Knight-Lebel’s first senior goal was not enough for Crewe Alexandra to defeat MK Dons at Stadium:MK yesterday after former Alex loanee Joe White opened the scoring for the hosts.

Manager Lee Bell made 3 changes from Boxing Day’s 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Town as Jamie Knight-Lebel, Max Sanders and Omar Bogle came into the team for James Connolly, Jack Powell (both bench) and Jack Lankester (knock). Former Alex captain Luke Offord and White both started for the hosts.

The first chance came in the 2nd minute as Knight-Lebel would head a Joel Tabiner free-kick straight at Tom McGill before the hosts took the lead 8 minutes later as White would find the bottom corner of Filip Marschall’s goal from 25 yards out, both players playing against the team they were on loan at last season.

McGill would deny Bogle 6 minutes before the break before Tabiner would have a shot saved by the hosts’ keeper 6 minutes after the interval. The Alex would be level in the 56th minute as Knight-Lebel turned an in-swinging corner from Tabiner over the line from close range before McGill would make another save, this time to keep out Shilow Tracey’s shot, 9 minutes later.

The next games for the Alex see them hosting Carlisle United on New Year’s Day (that game will be live on SkySports+) before also hosting Bromley next Sunday.

Final Thoughts:

It was another result that we’d be happy with in isolation but could do with not conceding early and having to chase the game from there.

The White goal sees a good ball between the lines to the on-loan Newcastle player who was allowed far too much space to make a decision.
