Crewe Alexandra defender Kelvin Mellor says he is really enjoying trying to prove himself at the higher level.

“It is my aim just to stay in the team because there are good players here not getting in” – Kelvin Mellor

The 21-year-old could actually have been turning out even higher after rejecting a move to Championship side Derby County over the summer.

Instead he committed himself to the Railwaymen and a new two-year deal. Mellor has only recently returned to action following ankle surgery.

“It has been a good experience and it is my aim just to stay in the team because there are good players here not getting in,” he told
Crewe’s official website. “All I can do is make sure that I do the best I can and do my job to the best of my ability to help the team.”
