Defender Adam Dugdale wants an extended run in the side having recently reclaimed a starting place at Crewe Alexandra.

“It kills me when I am on the bench to be honest” – Adam Dugdale

The 25-year-old centre-back has found opportunities severely restricted this term despite playing a leading part in promotion last season.

Dugdale did though return to duty in place of the sidelined Harry Davis at Leyton Orient on Saturday, and also held onto his starting role in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat of Bradford City last evening.

“I just want to play, it kills me when I am on the bench to be honest,” he admitted to the Crewe Chronicle. “I want to be part of it so hopefully I can stay in the team now and show what I am all about.

“There is competition for places in all positions and that is good for the club,” he continued. “It keeps everyone on top of their game.”
