Crewe Alexandra defender Adam Dugdale admits he has always been a natural leader out on the pitch.

“I’ve always considered myself as a leader and hopefully those leadership qualities can rub off” – Adam Dugdale

That follows the 26-year-old recently taking possession of the armband from Abdul Osman following the arrival in midfield of on loan George Evans.

Dugdale has himself lately returned from an earlier loan spell out when playing a handful of games for Tranmere Rovers in September.

“It is a great honour to captain Crewe,” he told Alex’s official website. “I have always been a captain when I was a kid and coming through the Academy and I am enjoying it but I’m sure that would change if Abdul came back into the team.

“I wasn’t in the team and went out on loan to Tranmere to get some games and now I’ve come back and it was a great honour for the manager to give me the armband,” Dugdale added. “I’ve always considered myself as a leader and hopefully those leadership qualities can rub off on a few of the younger ones.”
