Adebisi Signs New Contract With The Alex

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that defender Rio Adebisi has signed a new contract with the club, initially a 2-year deal with the option of another 2 years following that.

Adebisi, 19, has come through the Academy system at the club and made 5 appearances in his first season as a professional, including a debut against Premier League club Aston Villa in the 2nd Round of the Carabao Cup last August following a loan spell at Neil Baker’s Leek Town at the end of his scholarship.

What does this mean for the club?

It’s great that another one of the bright young prospects at the club (even by the Alex’s standards) has been tied down to a long-term deal and he’ll provide decent competition for Harry Pickering next season at left-back or a good option to fill in should Pickering be used in midfield. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more of Rio in the first-team next season (last season saw him in and out of the Under-23s team due to injuries) even if it’s just as a substitute.
