Crewe Alexandra left-back Gregor Robertson remains confident he will be fit for the start of the new season.

“It was very hard to miss out on Wembley, especially as I had missed out 12 months earlier” – Gregor Robertson

It follows the cruel heartache of missing out on a Wembley place for the second successive season in April.

A thigh injury halted his chance last year as former club Chesterfield reached the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final before a tendonitis problem similarly dashed his hopes this time around.

“It was very hard to miss out on Wembley, especially as I had missed out 12 months earlier,” Robertson admitted to the Crewe Chronicle. “But there was nothing I could do about it. I tried my best to play.

“The recovery is going well, although it is taking a long time,” he added. “I might be a little bit behind the rest of the group to be honest but hopefully it won`t be long before I can join in.”
