Defender On The Move To Fellow League 2 Club

|

Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that central defender Christian Mbulu has been let go by the club and has signed for fellow League 2 side Morecambe until the end of the season.

Mbulu, 23, signed for the Alex at the end of October until the end of January following injuries to defenders Olly Lancashire and Eddie Nolan. He also had a trial spell in pre-season but has been allowed to leave a week early from his deal after making 7 appearances for the Railwaymen.

He joins Alex Academy Alumni Ritchie Sutton, AJ Leitch-Smith and Shaun Miller, who’s on loan from the Alex, at the Shrimps.

What are Morecambe getting from the signing of Mbulu?

Christian is a centre-back who we didn’t see a great deal of in the Alex first-team but wasn’t great when he was on the pitch. His final game came at Salford City on Boxing Day where he was one of many who didn’t play well in the first half and was replaced at the break by a midfielder, with normal defensive midfielder Ryan Wintle moving into the back 4 where he remained until the loan signing of Michael Nottingham last week.
