Crewe Alexandra defender George Ray must win back his manager’s trust before regaining a place in the team.

“You have to be able to trust your players and depend on them” – Steve Davis

The 21-year-old centre-back has just completed his second suspension of the campaign and is available to face Notts County at the weekend.

“George has to learn. As a manager you trust your players and you want your players to be reliable,” boss Steve Davis explained to the Crewe Chronicle. “This will be a learning curve for him. You have to be able to trust your players and depend on them when you pick them.

“I’ve not spoken with him at length about it. He knows,” he added. “Missing another two games and losing his place in the team is punishment enough.”
