Crewe Alexandra defender Mark Ellis hopes it will be a case of third time lucky at Wembley this time around.

“I’ve been there twice before but not even made the squad” – Mark Ellis

The 24-year-old has twice been to the national stadium whilst with former clubs but is yet to taste any action there.

However, the ex-Torquay United centre-back now has another opportunity in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final with Southend United on 7th April.

“It feels good, I’m delighted,” Ellis told the Crewe Chronicle. “I’ve been there twice before but not even made the squad, I’ve been sat in the stand. It was disappointing not to be involved whatsoever. This time hopefully I will be there and I will be playing.”
