Crewe Alexandra were expected to remain unchanged against Leyton Orient at Gresty Road this weekend despite receiving another injury blow.

“Duggy has got a spasm in his back which developed yesterday, so that could be our one experienced player from Tuesday ruled out” – Steve Davis

Defender Adam Dugdale is rated doubtful for the game due to a back injury. Forwards Mathias Pogba and Michael West, together with experienced goalkeeper Steve Phillips, were already restricted to the sidelines.

Matt Tootle was recalled for his first start of the season in favour of the suspended Chuks Aneke for the midweek draw at Carlisle United and should therefore continue.

“Duggy has got a spasm in his back which developed yesterday, so that could be our one experienced player from Tuesday ruled out,” manager Steve Davis confirmed to Crewe’s official website. “Thankfully the likes of Pogba, Phillips and West aren’t too far away, and could start training with us on Monday if they come through a fitness test today okay.”

Leyton Orient were missing midfielder Martin Rowlands for their midweek 4-1 victory over Yeovil Town and he could return to the side.

Both Scott Cuthbert (hamstring) and Jamie Jones (shoulder) remain absent while defender Lloyd James is a doubt with ankle trouble.
