Crewe Alexandra expect to clinch the signing of Lincoln City striker Vadaine Oliver later this week.

The 21-year-old is out-of-contract at Sincil Bank and the Railwaymen have already had a £15,000 bid turned down for the scorer of thirteen goals last term.

A final deal could though rise to closer to £20,000 plus add-ons – but if that can’t be settled a decision will instead be reached by an independent tribunal.

Manager Steve Davis is also considering a second raid into the Conference and a move for highly-rated 22-year-old Kidderminster Harriers winger Marvin Johnson, who scored seven goals in 42 games last season.

Meanwhile, Hereford United’s England C international Sam Clucas, 22, could become another realistic target.
