Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis still wants to add a right-sided winger to his squad.

“With Byron moving on we were looking for something similar, or better” – Steve Davis

The Railwaymen have continued to assess options over the summer – with wingers from both Premier League and Championship clubs coming under consideration. They are still to fill the void caused by Byron Moore joining rivals Port Vale last month.

“We have spoken about bringing in a right winger, but have not been able to find one that we would like yet,” Davis explained to the Stoke Sentinel. “There’s obviously a couple we have got in mind, but they are not available at the moment.

“With Byron moving on we were looking for something similar, or better, to what we have lost,” he added. “I’m not against playing with wingers. In fact, I like to play with wingers, especially when they can do what Brad Inman did against Bolton this week, so it is an option.”
