Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis admits he is likely to target a new midfielder during the January transfer window.

At the current time Davis only really has skipper Luke Murphy, summer arrival Abdul Osman and the inexperienced Ollie Turton to call upon in the middle of the pitch.
Even so he is unlikely to try and make another loan move as he would be required to play any newcomer into the club. Davis would instead prefer to leave his trust in those already currently doing the role.
“I am not trying to do anything in the loan market for the time being. I would much prefer to be doing something permanent,” he admitted to Crewe’s official website. “I could go out and buy another ball player like Murph or a Westy type, but with January brings a high transfer price and I won’t get stung on that.”
