Steve Davis is surprised by the current lack of interest in some of his younger players at Crewe Alexandra.

“We haven’t had any inquiries about any of our players and I must admit that has surprised me” – Steve Davis

Davis believes the progress made by the likes of former duo Ashley Westwood and Nick Powell since moving into the top-flight would have generated even more interest in his own squad.

And despite losing a couple of their prized assets ahead of their latest campaign, the Alex still made a successful return to the higher level while also throwing in a Wembley Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final victory for good measure.

“We haven’t had any inquiries about any of our players and I must admit that has surprised me a bit, when you consider the last year we have had,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “The contracts of players do not expire until June, so it is still early. The scouts have come to watch us, so I’m sure there will be interest somewhere.”
