Manager Steve Davis is to be rewarded with a new improved contract at Crewe Alexandra after leading them to promotion last season.

“I am more than happy here and I have unfinished business” – Steve Davis

The 47-year-old has been on a rolling three-month deal ever since replacing his predecessor Dario Gradi in the job eleven months ago.

But the turnaround under his leadership soon brought the Alex a glorious Wembley play-off final victory against Cheltenham Town in May. As a result Davis is expected to be shortly offered a revised eighteen-month rolling deal.

“We have been talking about it and I want to get it sorted,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “I am more than happy here and I have unfinished business. I want to take this club as far as I can and I’m not there yet.

“I want to stay and the chairman is keen for me to continue doing what I am doing,” he added. “He wants to tie me down to something a bit longer and a bit better than what I’ve got.”
