Manager Steve Davis will have character high on his list when recruiting for Crewe Alexandra this summer.

Davis has already indicated he wants a trio of “quality” signings to strengthen a squad that struggled for much of last season.
However, that estimate could prove rather conservative dependant on the final decisions of Byron Moore and Max Clayton over new deals.
“I need to replace some of the lads we have let go, but not all of them,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “We have a decent-sized squad already. If I can find three more quality players that would be a real plus.
“Character is the biggest thing. You can watch players over and over and like what you see, and sign them on that basis,” he added. “But it is very difficult to know the personality of the player and how he will fit in to your club. Maybe a few didn’t fit in to our way immediately last year.”
