Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis saluted his side after launching another impressive recovery to claim a well-deserved point in a 3-3 draw at high-flying Sheffield United.

“They never know when they are beaten and it was a tremendous achievement get it back” – Steve Davis

Not for the first time this season the Alex found themselves two-goals in arrears within half-an-hour of the start. But Mark Ellis, Mathias Pogba and Chuks Aneke replied during a frantic six-minute spell either side of the interval to completely turn the contest on its head.

“They never know when they are beaten and it was a tremendous achievement get it back and then go ahead,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “I thought when we went ahead at 3-2 that we could go on and get another.

“We could have done better with the goals we conceded because we knew they would be a threat from set-plays, so for them to score from two corners was disappointing,” he added. “We have to mark better there and we will work on that.”
