An impressive eight goals in eleven pre-season games has left Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis praising striker Mathias Pogba.

The 21-year-old is proving a real favourite since arriving from Conference side Wrexham last month, with Davis acknowledging he provides regular danger in front of goal, despite his apparent rawness.

His form so far appears certain to allow him an early club debut against Hartlepool United in the Capital One Cup this coming weekend.

“He looks a real threat and will only get better,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “He has led the line really well and we have been delighted with his contribution so far.”
