Crewe Alexandra’s Steve Davis is amongst the early favourites to succeed the dismissed Dean Saunders at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“Smith and Davis know the division well and have worked on a limited budget” – Steve Freeth Bet365

Davis is a Wolves fan and has already established himself an excellent reputation with real credentials since taking over at Gresty Road.

Port Vale’s Micky Adams is currently third-favourite for the Molineux role and a couple of places higher than Davis – but still trails early leader Darren Ferguson of relegated Peterborough United. Ex-Bolton Wanderers chief Owen Coyle is included in second place and MK Dons’ Karl Robinson and Dean Smith of Walsall similarly figure.

Bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth commented: “Coyle and Ferguson have attracted the early money, but Smith and Davis know the division well and have worked on a limited budget.”
