Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says his son Harry will still remain on penalties despite his miss at the weekend.

“It was actually a very good save, the keeper guessed the right way” – Steve Davis

Davis was denied from twelve-yards by Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Jordan Archer during Alex’s comfortable 4-1 FA Cup first round victory at Gresty Road.

He is the second Crewe player to miss from the spot this season after striker Mathias Pogba wasted an earlier one.

“I’m not going to criticise him,” manager Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “That`s where Harry was practising putting them last week and it wasn’t a bad strike.

“He was desperately disappointed to have it saved, that is two out of six he has taken saved,” he added. “It was actually a very good save, the keeper guessed the right way.”
