Crewe Alexandra attempt to build upon their excellent midweek away victory when hosting Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

“He’s on a high but it’s about balancing the emotions of how he feels mentally with how he feels physically” – Steve Davis

Manager Steve Davis must decide
whether to start with on loan striker Ryan Lowe after coming off the bench to score
a late winner at Colchester United.

“For him he’s come back to a club that he’s very fond of, he had a good spell when he was here first time around,” Davis told the Stoke Sentinel. “He showed what he can do on Tuesday, hopefully he can repeat that the time that he’s here.

“He felt good after the game, he’s recovered well, trained well on Thursday so now we have a decision to make whether we start with him or bring him off the bench again,” he added. “He’s on a high but it’s about balancing the emotions of how he feels mentally after scoring and setting one up with how he feels physically.”

Both Lauri Dalla Valle and Brad Inman are unavailable through injury, therefore other options are to continue with Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson in attack or recall Callum Saunders.

Elsewhere, new loan signing Semi Ajayi should partner former Cardiff City team-mate Ben Nugent in the middle of defence.

Oldham’s latest arrival Ritchie Wellens is likely to start in midfield while Jake Cassidy and Mike Jones both return to the squad.
