Steve Davis remains hopeful that striker Max Clayton will be able to feature against early League One leaders Tranmere Rovers this weekend.

“We had a chat and Max will only play for 45 minutes” – Steve Davis

The teenager is away on England Under-19 duty this week after scoring the only goal against Coventry City at the weekend. They have a friendly game against Germany scheduled for Thursday evening.

However, Davis has already been told that his young forward would only have resrticted involvement and play a maximum of 45 minutes.

“I’ve spoken to Noel [Blake] on Saturday and he knows how Max has been in and around the team for us,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “We had a chat and Max will only play for 45 minutes. I don’t think that will be too much for him, so we will assess how he is on Friday.”
