Steve Davis was pleased enough at the efforts of his side during their 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.

The higher-ranked visitors were eventually reliant on a Martin Petrov penalty after Max Clayton had already given their hosts the lead.

“I thought we played well in the first half and played some really good football and enjoyed good possession,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “We created some good opportunities and started really well which I was pleased about.

“We know Bolton is a strong side. They have just come down from the Premier League and will be looking to get back up this season, so we knew it was going to be a significant step up for us from the previous friendly games.”

Alex still have pre-season home fixtures against Huddersfield Town and Barnsley to come over the next week, in addition to visiting Conference side Tamworth.
