Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis insists his team must maintain their recent level if they are to account for Sheffield United this weekend.

“It will be another tough game against a top side at this level” – Steve Davis

The Railwaymen defeated promotion-chasing Peterborough United in midweek courtesy of Marcus Haber’s winning penalty making it a trio of successive victories.

“It could be a similar type of game to Tuesday night when we had to work hard to get the result,” Davis reflected to Crewe’s official website. “We had to show real resilience and courage and I was delighted that we came through it against one of the top sides.

“It will be another tough game against a top side at this level,” he warned. “They have a massive supporter base and perhaps should be playing a higher level. That is the pressure they have to live with as a big club at this level because everyone will be expecting them to win promotion.”
