Manager Steve Davis was expecting a good atmosphere as Crewe Alexandra take on Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The visitors are set to be backed by in excess of two thousand fans while attempting to record a third victory of the season over their latest opponents.

“There will be a good atmosphere, you shouldn’t need to motivate the players when they come up against one of the top teams,” Davis told the Stoke Sentinel. “They are probably the biggest spending club in the division, but these are the games that we want to be playing in.

“We want Wigan to be coming to Crewe season after season because they’re great challenges for our players, great games for the fans,” he added. “It will make for a good atmosphere and we have to respond to that. We’ve done it in the past against the better teams in the league.”
