Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis is expecting latest signing Lee Molyneux to offer a genuine goal threat from midfield.

“He has shown that he can score goals and offer us something from free-kicks as well” – Steve Davis

The 24-year-old winger arrives at Gresty Road having scored nine times in 43 games for League Two Accrington Stanley last season.

And Davis is certainly hoping for more of the same this time around and in particular an increased threat from his side at set-piece situations.

“We had spoken to Lee about his future and gave him the option of coming here if things didn’t happen for him at Accrington,” Davis explained to Crewe’s official website. “Now that his contract at Accrington finished, we are delighted that he has chosen to come here.

“He had a terrific end to the season and his goals went a long way in keeping Accrington up and preserving their league status,” he continued. “He had a big impact for them and has shown that he can score goals and offer us something from free-kicks as well, because we don’t tend to score from them.”
