Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis was delighted to finally end the year with a 2-1 victory at Colchester United.

“It is amazing what a result can do and this has to be a turning point for us” – Steve Davis

Second-half goals from on loan duo Chuks Aneke and Tom Hitchcock were enough as the visitors came from behind at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

“I wanted them to go out and put on a performance and to comeback for the first time this season is a brilliant start on what we need to do,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “We have to start to get results and it was vital that we got something from this game after we lost at Wolves on Boxing Day.

“It is great for the confidence and now we can`t wait for the next game against Carlisle to come around on New Years’ Day,” he added. “It is amazing what a result can do and this has to be a turning point for us.”
