Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis believes he could have discovered the new Dele Adebola.

French striker Mathias Pogba only joined the club from Conference side Wrexham earlier this month but has already been burning his way along the goal-trail with some style during pre-season.

“He’s been fantastic around the training ground, he has scored in three games and he was the best player at Leek on Friday,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “He will be important to us. He reminds me of a young Dele, very powerful and a bit raw. I think he’ll improve with every game and as the season goes on.”

Adebola hit 39 goals in 123 appearances for Crewe after initially joining them as a trainee and helped them to Wembley glory fifteen years ago.
