Dario to Wait Until Window

Dario Gradi has revealed his desire to strengthen the squad in January, but says a loan signing prior to the transfer window is unlikely given the anticipated return of several players from injury.

Crewe’s recent injury troubles are showing signs of fading, with Neil Cox, Julien Baudet, Luke Varney, Billy Jones and David Vaughan all hoping to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Bradford. Whilst it is unlikely that all these players will make it, Dario has revealed that enough should return to ease the need for short-term cover.

However, with Billy Jones expected to leave in January, and several other Crewe players linked with a move in the transfer window, Dario has admitted that he is looking to sign players in the window.

Gradi said, ‘We’re probably over the worst and we’re probably not looking at a loan but for somebody to bring in in January. We’ve been trying for a loan and if we could find the right person we would consider it but it’s unlikely.’
