Dario Gradi says that Alex winger Joel Grant could one day be a Championship player.

Grant, a £130k signing from Aldershot 18 months ago, netted his 6th goal of the campaign in the weekend’s 2-1 win at Barnet but Dario is looking for further improvement.

Still yet to consistently perform on the pitch, Dario says the tricky winger should be looking at making the level two divisions up with his pace and skill.

Speaking to crewealex.net, Dario praised Grant:

‘Joel should be aiming to play in the Championship and if I was a Championship manager I would be looking at him because he has something that causes defences problems.

‘The only thing he needs is a consistent end product and that means creating and scoring goals.

‘ He has six goals now so he is getting there. With the chances we create he could have had double that, so we know that there is room for improvement.’

No doubt the comments are as much of confidence booster from Dario than anything else. Last season saw Grant fail to make an impact at League One level so I think Championship football is some way off at the moment.
