Dario has put last nights defeat down to mistakes and lack of a match winner. The Technical Director spoke to Radio Stoke following the game and gave his view.

He said: ‘Ben [Williams] has been our Man-of-the-Month, and then makes a mistake that leads to the goal really early on, which is the last thing you need. We get a great goal back, from a set play, and then get another really terrific strike from Gary [Roberts], another set play that put us ahead, and then Chris McCready for some reason panics in the box. That’s a mistake you can’t account for.

‘They have ability, they all make mistakes, everyone does, we just have too many littered through the team, something goes wrong and they lose confidence, it’s up to them and us to help them, we know we’re not as talented as we would have liked so we have to make up for that in effort.’

Dario also rued the lack of a real match winner, despite Nicky Maynard’s return to the team and score sheet.

‘Simon Church is not having the impact he had early on and Nicky Maynard has been quiet in the game so you look for where your match winner is.’
