Dario said he leaves it up to the players to decide who takes the captaincy on a match day.

The armband has rotated between David Artell, Lee Bell and Ashley Westwood throughout the season after Dario decided not to pick one sole captain.

It’s caused some debate over whether a designated captain make any difference as long as the players themselves are out on the pitch.

Continuing his usual apathetic approach towards the issue, Dario told The Official Website that he’s after as many ‘captains’ on the pitch as possible

‘I don’t mind who leads the team out. As far I am concerned I am after as many captains as I can get. If that means they lead by example or by offering encouragement then so be it.

‘We have had three captains this season and one of them tosses the coin at the beginning of the match.’

Personally, I can’t disagree with Dario. The captain’s armband these days seems to be more about who exchanges niceties pre-match. You would hope that the likes of Artell and Bell do not need a armband to get them leading the team.
