After hauling off Calvin Zola with 25 minutes remaining on Saturday Dario faced criticism from travelling Alex supporters.

Chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ went up as the club’s top scorer was replaced with Luke Murphy just after the hour mark. With the Alex trailing 1-0 to Torquay it was a pretty barmy decision in the view of some Alex fans but to Dario it was the obvious route to getting something out of the match.

Dario was eventually vindicated five minutes from time when Clayton Donaldson levelled the scores, earning the Alex a point.

This week Dario told creweguardian.co.uk that he wasn’t surprised by the chanting because the negativity is more widespread than Gresty Road:

“I would say that in the end events proved them wrong.

“It doesn`t annoy me and it doesn`t surprise me. Football in particular, people seem to want to go to matches to vent their anger and shout at something.

“If Stoke fans can have a go at Tony Pulis and England can sack Alf Ramsey, I guess it doesn`t matter much what they do to me.”

Not sure Dario should really be putting himself down with Tony Pulis. Things aren’t that bad.
